How to Care for Your Mahjong Mat
Keep your mat rolled, blot spills right away, and let it air dry fully before you store it. That is most of it.
Unrolling it the first time
- Unroll the mat on a clean, flat table, print side up.
- Smooth it from the center out to the corners.
- If an edge curls from being rolled, give it a little time flat at room temperature.
Everyday cleaning
- Blot spills right away with a dry cloth. Do not rub.
- Wipe the surface gently with a damp cloth and a little mild soap if needed.
- Let it air dry completely, flat, before rolling it up.
Storing it
- Always store it rolled, print side out, in its carry bag.
- Never fold it. Folding is what causes lasting creases.
- Keep it away from direct heat and long periods of direct sun.
What to avoid
- No ironing directly on the mat.
- No machine drying.
- No bleach or harsh cleaners.
